The Public Safety Division provides legal services to the Boise Police and Fire Departments in areas such as legal training for officers, contract review for materials, services, and interagency cooperation, consultation on personnel issues and internal affairs, and assistance with labor negotiations.

Additionally, our Division provides legal training to the Meridian Police Department as a part of the contract to prosecute infraction and misdemeanor cases for the City of Meridian.

Division members also screen all incoming criminal cases and decide when to file a criminal case or when to decline to charge alleged criminal conduct.

Our staff is committed to strengthening public relations and improving citizen perception as they relate to law enforcement, the rights of crime victims, and fire protection and emergency services for the citizens of Boise.

The Division is also committed to efficient enforcement of state and local law so that offenders are prosecuted and crime victims are treated with compassion and respect.
